- Andre and Jordan Ayew are the second brothers to go down with an EPL team
- The first were Martin and Marcus Olsson at Blackburn Rovers in 2012
Ghanaian duo Andre and Jordan Ayew have equalled an unwanted record in the Premier League after suffering relegation with Swansea City.
The Wales club confirmed their relegation status after going down 2-1 on the final day of the season to the already relegated Stoke City.
Swansea needed to defeat the Potters and hope that Manchester would also beat Southampton by a huge goal margin, however, it was not to be as Carlos Carvalhal’s side failed to beat the drop.
The club’s relegation means bad news for Ghanaian brothers Andre and Jordan Ayew, who have now joined an unwanted list of record breakers.
The pair have become just the second set of related brothers playing for the same club to be relegation from the English topflight.
The first pair of brothers were Martin and Marcus Olsson at Blackburn Rovers in 2012.
Jordan has been at Swansea since January 2017, whiles Andre returned to the Liberty stadium outfit during the January window after a failed stint with West Ham United.
For Andre, this is the first time he has tasted relegation in his career while his younger brother has suffered three times.
It, however, remains to be seen if both brothers will continue to stay with Swansea following the club’s demotion to the Championship.
