- Deputy special prosecutor says she has never taken a bribe before
- Cynthia Naa Koshie Lamptey says she might resign if Martin Amidu bullied her
- There are claims the special prosecutor role will witch hunt NDC officials
The deputy special prosecutor, Cynthia Naa Koshie Lamptey, has stated that she has never received a bribe in her life.
In what has been seen as a revealing vetting in parliament, the deputy special prosecutor argued that she has never received a bribe before and will never do so in her lifetime.
I have never received a bribe in my life and I never will be moved to receive a bribe from anyone, she stated during her vetting.
Cynthia Naa Koshie Lamptey has also revealed that she is willing to resign her post if Martin Amidu sidelines her in the line of duty.
"If I am sidelined I will resign," she told members of the Appointments Committee of Parliament. Martin Amidu had already served notice, he would walk, if there was any political interference by the Akufo-Addo-led administration.
The special prosecutor’s position was culled out of Nana Addo’s resolve to deal with issues of economic crime and corruption in the country when it comes to present and past government officials.
So far, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has made a case that the selection of Martin Amidu as special prosecutor is just a tactic by the NPP government to witch hunt the past officials under the Mahama administration.
