Free SHS to be extended to 2nd year students by September – Nana Addo

- NPP government says second students of SHSs will not pay fees from September

- President Akufo-Addo made the announcement during his tour of the Brong Ahafo region

President Nana Akufo-Addo has revealed that effective September 2018, second year students at the senior high school will also not pay fees.

According to the President, the NPP government is extending the free SHS policy to second year students in the next academic year.

He made the announcement at a durbar in Busunya in the Nkoranza North District of the Brong-Ahafo Region as part of activities marking his 3-day tour of the area.

The NPP government’s free SHS flagship programme was rolled out in September 2017. But like any new policy, it has been fraught with some challenges.

However, government says the programme will be sustained despite the challenges.
