Multiple award-winning dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, who reported to have ignored his Zylofon Media label mate Kumi Guitar, at the 3 Music Awards, has finally revealed why he took that decision to steer clear off the highlife singer.
Speaking in an interview with Deloris Frimpong Nmanso on the Delay Show, Stonebwoy revealed that he was very hurt that Kumi Guitar decided to wade into the matter by recording a ‘diss’ song directed at him (Stonebwoy).
According to Stonebwoy, who had called Kumi Guitar a hypocrite and opportunist, the ‘Betweener’ singer approached him backstage of 3 Music Awards 2 months ago but he (Stonebwoy) avoided any interaction with him.
“We met at the 3 Music Awards when he came to say ‘hi’ to me but I made him know that you don’t get yourself involved in stuff like this. You may be older than I am but you don’t have to do that because you don’t know whatever it is and you can’t just come in from your own angle,” Stonebwoy said.
“You’ve calculated the benefits you will gain from it but don’t take it as a joke because it is not to me. So after everything you come and stand in front of me trying to vibe me with, masa we are not going to allow that thing,” the ‘People Dey’ singer noted.
He said because Kumi Guitar poked his nose into a matter he was not involved in, he thought it wise not to entertain him for his own safety when they met at the Awards show.
“Imagine you are at the backstage of a program, and somebody who recorded a ‘diss’ song for you comes to look for you. It is risky. It is dangerous. We have to be security conscious,” he said.
When asked what his response was for Kumi Guitar, he reiterated: “I told him I was not happy with what he did. Because it appears he was tempting me. I couldn’t have pretended to be happy with him.”
Kumi Guitar, another artiste on the Zylofon Music record label released a ‘diss’ song titled ‘Gyae’ for Stonebwoy few months ago when the latter had an altercation with some executive of Zylofon Media at Champs Bar, a popular pub in Accra.
