Collins James Kodah, a native of Navrongo in the Upper East Region and a former student of Kumasi Polytechnic, has been arrested by the police.
He was accused of kidnapping two children aged seven and nine years, so he could demand ransom from their parents.
YEN.com.gh understands that his objective was to raise money, so he could pay his school fees at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The suspect was arrested as after a collaborative effort between MTN, a telecommunications operator and the police resulted in his capture at a hotel at Asante Akyem Agogo in the Ashanti region.
According to sources, he posed as an uncle of the children and picked them up from school on Friday, May 18, 2018.
He then took them to Kumawu-Bodomase and then to Asante Akyem Agogo where he was picked up.
The father of the children, Abraham Osei, who is a lecturer at KNUST, was issued with a police extract for announcements to be made on local radio stations after he lodged a complaint with the KNUST police.
The children who have since reunited with their parents are expected to undergo medical screening. Koduah has meanwhile been charged with kidnapping.
