- Police department say it never detained a one-year-old child in the Volta Region for allegedly poisoning her 5-year-old brother
- Residents in the Central Tongu District had claimed the arrest as strange considering the age of the girl
- Mother of Princess Gokay called for justice to prevail especially when she believes her daughter did nothing wrong
The Ghana police service says it has not arrested nor arraigned before the court a one-year-old girl in the Volta Region.
In a press statement, the police service makes the case that Princess Goka left with her mother, Judith Yevuyibor, after visiting the police station.
"Kuma Lawrencia of Adidome came to the station with her 14 years old daughter Fiayibor Heartwill and reported an assault case against Judith Yevuyibor, mother of 18 months old girl Judith Yevuyibor the mother of 18 months Princess Goka went together with her daughter but none of them were detained," the police revealed.
It was earlier claimed that a court in the Volta Region arraigned a one-year-old girl following accusations of wanting to poison her uncle’s son.
Reports claimed that Princes Gokay was arrested by the police in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region. This development, though confirmed untrue, left residents of the area in utter shock as they wondered how a toddler could commit such crime.
The son, who is a 5-year-old boy, is sick and bedridden and the Today’s Newspaper claimed that the toddler appeared before the Mafi Adodime Magistrate Court to answer the charge of attempted murder.
Mother of the one-year-old lady, Esinam Yevuyibor, narrated the story to Today Newspaper in Accra as she vented frustration and anger over the issue.
“We were shocked at the forced charge preferred against the little girl by the police officers because Princess who cannot talk or knows her left from the right could do such thing to her sick brother,” she told Today amidst tears.
The troubled mother stated that her daughter has not been happy ever since her playmate was taken ill. She revealed in an interview with the newspaper that Princess has been paying regular visits to him in his room and often plays with him and wondered how she could take a bottle containing a poisonous substance to kill Kwabla.
