- Lucky Mensah believes the NPP will offer Ghanaians better opportunities than the NDC administration did
- The musician says the NDC disappointed him and failed to honor their promise to him after 2012 election
Famous Ghanaian highlife musician, Lucky Mensah, has finally revealed why he switched from the camp of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and vigorously campaigned for Nana Akufo-Addo in 2016 election.
According to the musician, he embarked on a massive campaign for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), because the erstwhile NDC-Mahama administration was 'super incompetent'.
Speaking to GH Entertainment recently on Accra-based Rainbow Radio, Lucky Mensah insisted that he deliberately ditched the NDC government, to help power the NPP party.
To him, the leadership of the Mahama administration did not bring the needed policies to change the lives of citizens, but rather bestowed hardship on the ordinary Ghanaian.
‘’I decided to campaign for Akufo-Addo because Mahama was failing Ghanaians. He was not providing the needed leadership that was needed to give Ghanaians better opportunities,’’ the musician said.
Lucky Mensah in his radio interaction stressed that the Akufo-Addo administration just few months into office, has found real solutions to Ghana’s erratic power supply which Mahama watched on for 8 years without getting solutions.
“The way ‘dumsor’ was affecting Ghanaians was terrible and so I decided to return to Ghana from Canada so I could campaign for Nana Addo to provide a better leadership and alleviate the economic hardship of Ghanaians,” he said.
When asked if his support for Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP has affected his career, the musician answered yes, but added that he has not regretted campaigning for Nana Addo.
In September 2016, Lucky Mensah paid a visit to the residence of Nana Akufo-Addo to present him with copies of his ‘Yeresesamu,’ campaign song that hit back at the then NDC government.
In 2012, musician did similar campaign song, ‘Atta Beye’ for the NDC, but later expressed disappointment at the leadership of the party for giving him a Toyota Corolla instead of the Land Cruiser promise made to him.
