- A Black Stars' player, Kingsley Sarfo, faces a 3-year jail term in Sweden
- He has been accused of taking advantage of young girls
- Allegations surrounding the case denied him a place in the team during a match with Uganda last year
Kingsley Sarfo, a member of Ghana’s senior national football team, the Black Stars, is likely to spend three years in a Swedish jail.
YEN.com.gh understands that he has been accused of having his way with a minor and could therefore be charged with defilement.
The Ghanaian midfielder is reported to have spent sometime in cells after the he was initially accused of the crime.
Though his plea of not guilty was considered because he had no knowledge the lady in question was under-aged, he still faces accusations of taking advantage of young girls since he joined Malmo FF, a football club.
"I mean he has had sexual intercourse with the plaintiff, and I claim it's like judging rape against children," said prosecutor Rikard Darell.
Sources say that the date of the sentence may be announced soon, but Sarfo may continue his stay in cells.
Coach Kwesi Appiah handed the player his maiden Black Stars call-up when he was invited for Ghana’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Uganda last year, but the allegations surrounding him has also halted his invitation to the Black Stars team.
