- Peter Mac Manu says allegations of nepotism against by GHAPOHA staff is false
- According to the Unions of GHAPOHA, Mr. Manu has obtained a contract of over ¢4 million for himself and family
Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GHAPOHA), Peter Mac Manu, has rejected all allegations levelled against him by staff of the Authority.
Workers of the Authority last week alleged that the Board Chairman, Mr. Manu has awarded contracts to members of his family.
But in a statement, the former NPP national chairman said the allegations are false. He proceeded to provide more information on some of them and added that he was ready to provide documentary evidence to back them.
He opined that the allegations are “personal, direct and, I must admit, very painful. It is painful because not a single one of the allegations is true”.
“Painful because it is pretty obvious to me that some persons have either a personal score to settle against me or are using me falsely to paint the government as corrupt or both," he said.
The aggrieved GHAPOHA staff believe their boss is involved in a conflict of interest situation after accusing him of handing contracts to his wife and children.
At a press conference organised on Thursday, May 24, 2018, chairman of the Senior Staff Association, John Aseeph, said Mr. Mac Manu’s wife has taken over ticketing for staff travels.
According to him, things are no longer being ran properly at the Authority, which he described as “being priced at cut-throat prices.”
“We are paying two and three times more than other competitors are offering for ticketing,” the staff chairman alleged.
The aggrieved workers have thus made a call to President Akufo-Addo to immediately dismiss the GHAPOHA boss.
