- Gun-wielding Form One boy storms police station in Koforidua
- The student who had been accused of theft went to the station with the intention of killing the investigator in the case
A First-year student of Koforidua Ghana Senior High School, Joshua Yao Korkpartey Sarfo, on Monday, May 28, 2018, stormed the Koforidua Effiduase Police station with a Pistol and a metallic object to attack a Police investigator, Noah Oppong.
According to a report sighted on Starrfmonline.com, the 19-year-old day student who hails from Accra was under investigation for stealing students’ mattresses in the school but was granted Police inquiry bail.
An eyewitness indicated that the student stormed the Police station Monday at about 8:40 am with a metal bar and a locally manufactured pistol with one round of A.A Cartridge in the chamber and threatened to kill the investigator in charge of his case.
The situation is said to have created a chaotic scene at the Police station as some police officers present attempted to disarm the student who threatened to gun down anyone who came closer to him.
However, after few minutes of the stand-off between the student and law enforcers, the police overpowered and disarmed Joshua Yao Korkpartey Sarfo.
He was then arrested and detained to assist in investigations whilst the pistol and the metallic object were impounded by the Police.
The Headmaster of Ghana Senior High School, Rev.Abraham Osei Donkor, indicated in an interview that he was not aware of the incident because he was currently at a meeting in Accra.
He however confirmed that the student had been suspended indefinitely by the management of the school for his involvement in the theft case which was still under investigation.
