Anas Aremeyaw Anas biography
Born in 1978 in Accra, Anas Aremeyaw Anas is a Ghanaian undercover investigative journalist. He grew up in Ghana's millitary barracks and later studied in the University of Ghana. In 1998, he gave up on a chance to be a reporter for the newspaper Ghanaian Times and instead, chose to be a part of the Crusading Guide.
Being a multimedia journalist, he is not aligned politically, and he specializes in documentary and print media. All these factors combined, make him a force to be reckoned with. Aremeyaw concentrates on the problems related to anti-corruption and human rights that occur in Ghana, and sub-Saharan Africa. Not much is known about this masked crusader as nobody has ever seen Anas Aremeyaw Anas face but he is one of the best things to talk about in Ghana all the time.
Anas Aremeyaw Anas achievements
Anas is critically acclaimed for the work he did prescribing for fundamental human rights; rights like the one to not be held in human servitude, and also the work he did for exposing corruption. That is not all; his splendid investigative works showered him with worldwide acclaim. When President Barack Obama made his first sub-Saharan Africa trip in 2009, he praised the brave works of Anas and called him a "courageous journalist".
Aremeyaw was undercover for 8 months, putting his life at risk, in order to reveal a child trafficking ring. Anas collected evidence which ushered the prosecution of the traffickers. They were accused of exporting Ghanaian girls for prostitution, to Europe. The comment made by the President is one of the biggest achievements in Anas' life. During his speech, President Obama highlighted Anas' work as,
"Time and again, Ghanaians have chosen constitutional rule over autocracy, and shown a democratic spirit that allows the energy of your people to break through. We see that in leaders who accept defeat graciously, and victors who resist calls to wield power against the opposition. We see that spirit in courageous journalists like Anas Aremeyaw Anas, who risked his life to report the truth. We see it in police like Patience Quaye, who helped prosecute the first human trafficker in Ghana. We see it in the young people who are speaking up against patronage and participating in the political process."
There are more than 14 international awards to his name for the investigative works he performed. In the year 2011, ETV Ghana polled Aremeyaw as the fifth most influential person in Ghana. In 2014, New African magazine termed him one of the "Most influential Africans of the Year".
In the same year, a documentary by Ryan Mullins named "Chameleon" was premiered at Amsterdam's IDFA festival. It featured the life and works of Aremeyaw. Check out the trailer below-
It was in December 2015 that the magazine Foreign Policy named him one of the year 2015's leading global thinkers. This is an honorary title given to people like Barack Obama, and Malala Yousafzai.
There are so many awards and recognition to his name. And why would not that be? He has made a remarkable contribution to our country, and the world as a whole.

Anas Aremeyaw Anas latest investigation
There are not many journalists who use such smart tactics as Anas. His investigations take a totally different form and he has never ceased to surprise us with his careful and life-risking work. He was able to break two major and different trafficking rings within a year in Accra. For eight long months, he worked covertly revealing the ring's transportation methods, as they peddled Chinese girls into Ghana and sexually exploited them. He also exposed the identities of those immigration officials who took bribes from the traffickers and overlooked the fake visas and passports.
There are several such investigations where he has infiltrated areas of crime and exposed the criminals. However, a bit of information has come to notice that deals with his newest investigation. The journalist is getting ready to launch his latest investigation report this year. It is said that this new investigation is going to be more powerful than some of his works as it is set to compromise the positions of top administrators and politicians.
Billboards declaring premiering of the undercover investigations have already been put up. And the good news for you curious folks is that this work of Aremeyaw is going to be out to the public in probably the second week of June.
