'Babies with sharp teeth' bastardizing the truth, not me' – Rawlings fires

- NDC founder Rawlings is blaming young NDC politicians for the party's current woes in Ghana

- Rawlings says NDC's 'babies with sharp teeth' are always bastardizing the truth to make him look bad

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has launched yet another vitriolic attack on some members of the opposition National Democratic Congress.

According to Rawlings, the younger generation within the NDC are the ones bastardizing the truth to mislead the public, and not him.

Speaking on Thursday at the Second Revolutionary Lecture Series held in his honor in Accra, Mr Rawlings disclosed that his recent apology to his two successors, John Agyekum Kufuor and John Dramani Mahama, was borne out of such attacks and massaging of what he described as the ‘truth’.

It could be recalled that, the former Ghanaian leader in a strong-welded words branded John Kufuor and John Mahama as “evil” and “rogue” leaders whose administration led Ghana backwards.

“I’m 70, I’m not the one who is bastardizing the truth; if the younger generation you are talking about, the ones with sharp teeth, who are much younger, had not attempted bastardizing the truth then probably, there wouldn’t have been a need for an apology,” Rawlings said.

Mr Rawlings in his address insisted that although he has been forced to apologize to the two ex-leaders, he will continue to stand for the truth and criticize constructively despite attempts from some members of the party to misrepresent him.

“I have so much on my chest, and you misrepresent me, you bastardize the truth, and people wonder: ‘Is this man crazy?’ and I have to apologize. It’s not over, I’ve just given you an example of what your generation is capable of doing and it’s sad,” he added.
