- Lawyer Afenyo-Markin has challenged Anas' mode operation to constitutional and legal test
- The Efutu MP believes Anas is not being fair to his victims in his undercover investigations
The Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has disclosed that it is about time the mode of operations being used by Ghanaian journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas goes through legal scrutiny.
According to the legal practitioner, Anas’ methodology in all his undercover investigations must pass through a test in order to clear doubts in people’s mind.
This the lawyer believes will help clear the air regarding the much-criticized methodology Anas employs in his journalistic practice.
Speaking on Joy News’ Newsfile on Saturday, Afenyo-Markin argued that there is a breach of privacy in how Anas conducts his undercover investigations and in all other exposé.
The Efutu MP in his submission indicated that Anas’ tough approach in fighting corruption in Ghana is admirable, but he is mostly unfair to many of his victims.
“You don’t lead somebody on into something and turn around and pronounce the person ‘guilty’…where you first show it [evidence] to the public and let radio stations play the audio, what are you doing?” he quizzed.
Lawyer Afenyo-Markin in his frustrations stressed that, Anas' practice is prejudicial to whoever his victims are, adding that Ghanaians should not celebrate that leg of methodology being used by Anas.
Anas’ mode of operations in his undercover investigations and methodology have come under heavy criticisms following his latest documentary, 'Number 12', which has so far implicated President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwasi Nyantakyi
The President of the Republic, Akufo-Addo has ordered the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), of the Ghana Police Service to arrest the GFA boss following the private viewing of excerpts of the Anas’ video.
Kwasi Nyantakyi who is currently under police investigations, is said to have been captured in the undercover video negotiating for an amount of money with foreign investors using the name of the President and his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The President of the Ghana FA, Mr Nyantakyi who is on police inquiry bail is being investigated for defrauding by false pretence.
