The captain of the Senior National team, the Black Stars has come under fierce attacks and criticisms for expressing shock over investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ latest undercover corruption video.
The captain, after Anas hinted of his latest expose’ at the football governing body, Ghana Football Association (GFA), has allegedly said he would be shocked to see if Anas’ investigations will be able to uncover any corruption in Ghana football.
The famous footballer allegedly said he was not aware of any corrupt deals and has never come across such practices in his entire career in Ghana football.
The former Sunderland player told Accra-based Hot FM that he was eager to see the much-anticipated corruption video if any.
“As the captain of the Black Stars, I’m interested in the video and will make time to watch it if only I’m in Ghana. I will be very shocked if it comes out clear that there is corruption in our game,” Gyan was quoted.
He also added that, “this is because throughout my career I have not come across such an issue to date so we’re all waiting”.
However, many Ghanaians who monitored Asamoah Gyan's media interview claim the Black Stars’ captain was not being truthful with his comment.
Some social media users who were clearly appalled by Gyan’s reaction to Anas’ latest expose took to various media platforms to express their anger at the captain.
To most of them, Captain Asamoah Gyan was being hypocritical and refusing to affirm the corruption allegations which has dent the image of the GFA.
