- It appears the dollars Nyantakyi was collecting in the video by Anas are his
- Reports from myjoyonline claim the money was a refund
- The damning corruption allegations in the video by Anas has caused Kwesi Nyantakyi to resign as GFA president
Former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has responded to sections of the video by Anas which saw him grabbing wads of dollar notes into a rubber bag.
Kwesi Nyantakyi has argued that the cash of dollars he was taking from the table was a refund and not a bribe. A report from myjoyonline claims that the amount was not $65,000 as alleged by Anas Aremeyaw Anas in the video.
In fact, the amount was a $40,000 reimbursement for three trips to Dubai which Nyantakyi himself financed for the team by Anas which posed as investors from Morroco.
Further details by veteran journalist, Kweku Baako, show that the then Liberian presidential candidate, George Weah, was also part of the trips Nyantakyi organized to meet the investors now known to be fake.
YEN.com.gh has learned that the former GFA president was told to pay for the plane tickets of the Liberian politician and 'fake investors' who all traveled on Business class to Dubai.
If indeed these claims are anything to go by, then Nyantakyi could have some legal grounds against Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
So far, a special committee has been set up by parliament to investigate cases of corruption at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the video by Anas.
The Ghana police service has also cordoned off the entire GFA building as it has termed the place 'a crime scene'.
Kwesi Nyantakyi is bound to be thrown in prison based on such drastic action by the president. From the look of things, the presidency is terrible mad about the stench of corruption at the football association and thinks the best way to uproot this rot is by collapsing the entire association.
