A gory vehicular accident on the Cape Coast-Takoradi road on Saturday has resulted in 7 fatalities. Another 8 people have been admitted at the hospital and they are reportedly in serious conditions.
According to a report by Graphic Online, eye witnesses believe the crash was caused by a speeding Toyota Corolla with number WR 452-12.
The story according to the witnesses has it that the Corolla was trying to overtake another vehicle around a curve at Dominanse.
The Western Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) Commander, Chief Supt. R. Appiah said the accident involved three vehicles at about 2:30pm and that three vehicles were involved.
The MTTD commander narrated in trying to avoid a crash with the Corolla, the driver of a huge truck carrying cement was taken into the lane of other oncoming vehicles.
The truck then collided with a Toyota Hiace “trotro” with registration number GE 4058-12, which was traveling from direction of Cape Coast.
Investigations have been opened on the incident.
