- He has asked the public to respect the family’s privacy on the divorce because it is a hard time for the family, especially the children
Dr. Tony Lithur, husband of Nana Oye Lithur, has asked the general public to treat their divorce case as private one exclusive to only the family.
In a press statement dated June 13, and signed by Tony Lithur which has been sighted by YEN.com.gh on social media, the legal practitioner said the process is an emotional one for the family, particularly the children, therefore, it must be handled with care by the public.
"My attention has been drawn to the publication on social media of the docket copy of a Petition for divorce I have filed against Nana Oye Lithur at the Divorce and Matrimonial Division of the High Court, Accra and some pictures of us."
"While acknowledging the existence of the filed Petition, I would like to say that the process is an emotional and difficult one for us and our children.”
"I would therefore very respectfully and humbly, ask the general public to kindly give us, our children and loved ones some privacy to deal quietly with this painful stage of our lives," the press statement read.

The divorce petition was reportedly filed by Tony Lithur on May 2, 2018; but the document leaked on June 13, 2018.
He has accused Nana Oye Lithur of many “crimes” including verbally and physically abusing relatives and house helps, not playing the role of wife and mother, having extra marital affairs, and others.
The Lithurs have been married for twenty-seven years with four children.
Nana Oye Lithur is a lawyer, and was a Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection under the John Mahama administration.
Mr Lithur is also a private legal practitioner and was the lawyer for then President John Mahama during the NPP’s Election Petition case following the 2012 Presidential Eelection.
