The Executive Chairman of the Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club, Dr. Kwame Kyei, has condemned the actions of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, over his latest work.
According to a report by 3news.com, Dr. Kyei, in a letter, stated that the strategy adopted by the Anas-led Tiger Eye PI team was not the best.
This, he explained, is because a referee, Samuel Suker, was bribed in order to rig the results of a match in favour of their arch rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak.
He went on to say, occurred when Kotoko clashed with Hearts at the Accra Sports Stadium last season on March 19, 2017.
Suker is alleged to have awarded a penalty in the 84th minute in favour of Hearts after Awudu Nafiu was faulted for handling the ball.
The resulting penalty was converted by Vincent Atinga, leaving the results 1 – 0 in favour of Hearts.
A video released by Anas, titled Number 12, revealed that a bribe was given to Suker by people working for the Tiger Eye PI team, in order to ensure that Hearts won the match.
Dr. Kyei however, on behalf of Kotoko, appealed to the security agencies to ensure that the truth comes to light.
He went on to call on the supporters, well-wishers and sympathizers of the club to remain calm as investigations into the matter continues.
