LEKMA medical officer plays with mobile phone; ignores patients in queue

- A medical officer at the LEKMA Hospital has been captured busily fidgeting with her phone during working hours

- She thus ignored patients who stood before her waiting to be served

- Her action has attracted wild reactions from Ghanaians on social media who believe she must be punished

YEN.com.gh has sighted a video on Facebook in which a female medical officer reportedly with the LEKMA Hospital ignores patients to play with her phone.

The video was sighted on the Facebook wall of an aggrieved patient, Eugenia Pieterson, who claims she was also at the health facility to seek medical attention.

In the said video, the health officer is sighted reading something on the phone and then smiles, while her colleague was attending to the patients.

She indicated that she took interest in taking the video because when that particular health officer was asked by the patients to do the right thing by attending to them rather than using her phone, she got angry and decided to fight them.

Eugenia wrote: “So yesterday morning at Lekma Hospital as people were seriously sick including myself, this lady right infront of me who was supposed to call us for our cards was busy on her phone as if we didn't even exist, leaving us to our faith. Smh ei "Nti Ghana b3y3 yie nie"?? Hmmmm just watch the video for yourself ☹️ 'I took this video because when we said it, she fought us.

The video has incurred the wrath of some Ghanaians on social media who believe the medical officer’s attitude was bad and so she should be punished.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh on Tuesday, published the news of a seventy-year-old man, Mr. Opoku-Acheampon, who died at the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) Hospital because there was no bed.

The Minister of Health, Mr. Agyemang-Manu has said that health officers and facilities who are caught in any act of negligence at the work place would be made to face the law.
