In the world of football, we have seen all kinds of charms and supernatural remedies that are said to inspire or give teams that extra push of fortune to go forth and claim victory
The world witnessed how Mexico, underdogs in the World Cup 2018, came face to face with the might of the Germans, world-defending champions, and defeated them 1-0 on Sunday, June 17.
Following the victory social media was abuzz and the tournament had finally come to life with Mexico defying the odds and winning Germany in their match opener, something unseen since 1982.

And as much as El Tri coach Juan Carlos Osorio had a solid strategy, he might have one grandmother to thank for their victory on Sunday.
A Mexican fan took to Twitter and posted a video of her grandmother blessing the starting line-up as they stood for their national anthems prior to kick off.
The elderly woman, food of plate in hand, crossed each player blessing them once and finally blessed goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa three times.
Abuelas (grandmother in Spanish), are highly regarded in society and Mexicans are of the belief that nothing can be accomplished without the blessings of their Abuelas.
Mexico will still have to maintain their focus and not get carried away in victory as they still have to see off Sweden and South Korea in their remaining group F games to assure them passage.
It is then that we will truly see if Abuela can pull through for El Tri and see them through to the knockout stages of the Mundial.
