The former MD of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport Company was sent home without any reason provided by the government.

However, it has been alleged that his sacking was due to suspected mismanagement and bad press.

His dismissal letter was signed by the Executive Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante dated June 5, 2018.

In his stead, the government appointed Mr. George Mensah Okley to take over the company which took effect from Friday, 8 June giving

Mr. Alfred Obeng Boateng was therefore given up to Friday, June 8, to hand over to the newly-appointed Managing Director.

Mr Obeng’s time with BOST was marred by heavy criticism after the selling 5 million litres of contaminated fuel to two unlicensed companies, Movepiina and Zup Oil.

The move was alleged to have cost the state some GHc 7 million in revenue.

Investigations conducted by state investigative agencies into the transactions however cleared Mr. Obeng of any wrongdoing whatsoever in the transaction.

He was subsequently accused this year, by Consumer Group, COPEC of selling crude oil to another Company, BB Energy, at discounted prices causing financial loss to the state.

Mr. Obeng subsequently sued COPEC boss Duncan Amoah for defamation following publications that Mr Obeng had used third parties to death-threaten Mr Amoah.

He later sued NDC communicator, Sammy Gyamfi, for calling him a 'thief' on Adom TV.

Notably, Mr Obeng has since his sacking, issued a statement of appreciation to the President for the opportunity to serve in government.
