- Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, has called the Minority Whip, Muntaka Mubarak, “dumb” for referring him to Parliament’s Privileges Committee over purported insults
- Meanwhile, Muntaka Mubarak says nobody can threaten him, a boy bred in the Zongo
- MPs on both sides of the House have agreed to haul Kennedy Agyapong before the Privileges Committee for alleged misconduct
Member of Parliament for Asawase, Muntaka Mubarak, has warned Kennedy Agyapong to be careful of what he wishes for, insisting he is not intimidated by threats of a showdown from the NPP MP.
According to him, he is a “Zongo boy”, adding “if it is the gutter, I will jump in and drag him in”.
Muntaka Mubarak and Kennedy Agyapong have been on each other’s neck after the former moved a motion in Parliament earlier this month for the latter to be dragged before the Privileges Committee.
Mr. Muntaka accused the Assin Central MP of “insulting” Parliament and describing the House useless for electing Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu as a leader.
Although Mr. Agyapong has since apologized for his comments, he referred to the Asawase MP as “dumb” for hauling him before the Privileges Committee.
“I am not scared of anybody in this country…I live my life…that is a dumb statement he has ever made…he is a dumb MP and now I will take him on, let him go to the privileges committee and say that I said so because he did not listen to the context of the issue and just dragged the matter to the committee,” Mr. Agyapong told Joy FM.
He added that “if Muntaka wants a showdown with me, I will give him a showdown”.
However, responding to Mr. Agyapong, the Minority Chief Whip said he is equally ready for a showdown and will not be intimated at all.
“Nobody can threaten a Zongo boy about showdown…I want to caution him that all those things he has been doing, he should know those he can do that to…if he thinks he is man enough he should accost me in Parliament house,” Mr. Muntaka said.

“He should be very careful about the things he says because as for me, I can bet him, if it is the gutter, I will jump in and drag him in.”
“This kind of talking and misbehaviour, I think it has come to its peak and this is the time for us to deal with it once and for all…I can assure him,” he added.
