England defeat Panama 6-1 to qualify for Russia 2018 round of 16

- England have qualified for the round of 16 at the Russia 2018 World Cup

- They defeated Panama 6-1 on Sunday, June 24 in their second Group G match

- Tottenham striker Harry Kane scored three goals against Panama

Former world champions England have qualified for the round of 16 at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia after beating Panama 6-1 in their second Group G game on Sunday, June 24.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane was in the best form of his life in this time as he scored three goals against Panama whose defense committed many gaffes.

Defender John Stones netted the first goal for England in the 8th minute after being assisted by Kieran Trippier.

Harry Kane scored the second goal via a penalty in the 22nd minute when Fidel Escobar brought down Jesse Lingard in the penalty box in which the referee gave a penalty.

Jesse Lingard then scored the third goal for England in the 36th minutes after receiving a brilliant pass from Manchester City star Raheem Sterling.

John Stones scored his second goal of the match in the 40th minute via an header as he benefited from a loose ball.

Harry Kane scored his second and third goal in the 45th and 62nd minute respectively for him to get a hat-trick against Panama as England won the match 6-1 as Felipe Baloy pulled one back for Panama at the death.

England and Belgium have now qualified for the round of 16 at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and they will go head to head in their last Group game.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh had reported how Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard scored a brace each against Tunisia on Saturday as Belgium sealed their qualification to the Round of 16 after a 5-2 victory.

The encounter saw the European side score the first goal in the 6th minute when Chelsea play-maker Eden Hazard netted from the spot for a 1-0 lead.
