President of the republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, says his take-home pay is 29,000 cedis.
This revelation was made known when Nana Addo joined the business leaders and entrepreneurs at the President's Pitch which saw some young business entrepreneurs offered cash rewards for their excellent business pitches.
“…by the way, that is one month’s salary. My take-home pay is GHS 29,000,” the president revealed in a joking manner while he offered a 25,000 cash gift to the youngest shortlisted applicant of the startup competition.
At the end of the competition, the president chose 19-year old, Vanessa Limann from Gwollu in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region out of the 20 shortlisted applicants.
The subtle decision by Nana Addo to make known his monthly salary follows concerns over the exact amount of salary that public office holders, including the president, take.
YEN.com.gh had earlier released the full amount of salaries that the president and his ministers take. In that report, the salary estimate of Nana Addo was GH¢ 22,809 and the vice president's being GH¢ 20,529.

Meanwhile, there have been debates over whether or not the president should have revealed the exact amount of money he earns every month as others are also of the view that he was aiming at revealing how transparent his administration is.
