Manual registration process at a merchant/ agent
You can visit an MTN merchant, agent, or office for registration. Expect to follow the steps below to complete your registration.
- Request for registration services. The agent or official will record your details using their device, so answer all questions asked correctly.
- You will receive a request on your device.
- Dial *170# on your phone and enter a four-digit PIN when prompted. This will be the PIN you will be using to transact.
- Once done, you will receive a message notifying you the registration process is complete.

Online registration
You can also complete the registration process online with these simple steps.
- Visit the MTN Ghana website using an internet-enabled device.
- Click Register.
- Enter your mobile phone number and preferred PIN.
- Enter the CAPTCHA displayed and wait for a One-Time PIN to be sent to your phone.
- Enter the OTP, followed by your password.
- Follow the prompts to complete the process.
NB: MTN online registration on the app is also possible. Simply download and install the app. Open it, click register, and follow the prompts. You need a stable internet connection to complete the process.
Registration via USSD code
You can complete the self-registration process via a USSD code, as explained below.
- Dial *400# on your mobile phone
- Choose 1, i.e., Continue Self-registration
- Insert your first and last name.
- Fill in your date of birth in the format MM/DD/YYYY
- Choose your 5-digit PINSECRET code and validate.
