- Anas Aremeyaw Anas has spoken about Randy Abbey's role in Number 12
- According to him, the former GFA spokesman had nothing to do with the investigations
- Kennedy Agyapong had earlier mentioned Randy Abbey as the one who influenced the investigations
Ghanaian investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has reacted to allegations of a role played by popular sports icon, Randy Abbey, in Number 12.
According to him, contrary to popular belief, the veteran sports personality did nothing to influence the investigations.
Speaking with Joy FM on Thursday, June 28, 2018, he stated that he is a friend to Abbey, but to conclude that the man did something with respect to Number 12 is erroneous.
Randy Abbey, who previously served as a spokesman for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), was reportedly tied to the investigations carried out by the Anas-led Tiger Eye PI team.
Even though he served in various committees in the GFA, he as recognized as an avowed critic of the Kwesi Nyantakyi administration.
He allegedly stated in May 2018 that it was time to change the leadership at the association as the current team lacked ideas.
Abbey has been described as a 'shadow editor' of Anas by the Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako.
This also led to speculations that he may have inspired the probe into Ghanaian football.
He was however named by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, as the brain behind Number 12.
This was however debunked by Anas, who stated that Abbey was not at any point in time involved in the investigations.
