The family of Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has reacted to the 'sudden demise' of the former vice president.
In a statement signed by Jabesh Amissah-Amissah, a younger brother of the late vice president, the family expressed their gratitude for the support Ghanaians have shown in their moment of grief.
The family also requested the media to give them some privacy in 'these very difficult times.'
"With deep regrets, we announce the sudden demise of the immediate past Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency K. B. Amissah-Arthur, in Accra this morning.
The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support in this moment of grief. In due course, the family would keep the public informed of the funeral arrangements.
Respectfully, we wish to request that the media gives the family some privacy in these very difficult times," the statement said.
Mr Amissah-Arthur, as earlier reported by YEN.com.gh, died at the 37 Military in the early hours of Friday, June 29.
He had been rushed to the hospital after collapsing at the Airforce gym while training.
The sixth vice president of Ghana's Fourth Republic, Amissah-Arthur served under John Mahama's administration.
He was 67 years old.
