Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Eboue slams Guardiola for ill-treatment against Yaya Toure

- Ex-Côte d’Ivoire international Emmanuel Eboue blames Pep Guardiola for Yaya Toure's Manchester City exit

- The 35-year ended his eight year reign with the Premier league champions last month

- He won 3 Premier League titles with the club since he joined them from Barcelona in 2010

Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has slammed Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola for forcing his countryman Yaya Toure out of the club.

The 2015 African Cup of Nations winner announced his departure from the Etihad Stadium outfit this summer after running out of contract with the club at the end of last season.

Toure made just 10 Premier League appearances in the 2017-18 season with just one start, unlike the 2016-17 season where he scored five goals in 25 matches under the same manager.

However, Eboue believes the former Barcelona midfielder had to leave the EPL club due to the fact that his manager was 'killing his career as a footballer'.

Toure joined Manchester City in the summer of 2010 from Barca and won three EPL titles, with four other domestic cups before leaving this June.

During his reign at the club, he featured in 230 topflight matches for the club and scored 59 goals in the process.

Meanwhile, he will be free to dictate his terms before joining any other club as his active football career continues to wind down.

"As a player, there is a time you completely cannot work with a coach and because of your future, you must go.

"It was evident Pep Guardiola did not like my brother Yaya right from the Barcelona days.

"It is the best decision for Yaya to get away from Guardiola's territory because he was killing his career as a footballer.

"I think Yaya's last one year has been hell because he was not playing enough. For a professional footballer that is very terrible."

Toure accused Guardiola of being 'jealous' of him and having a problem with African players while his agent, Dimitri Seluk, branded the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss 'worthless'.

The Catalan has hit back at what he considers to be “lies”, but Eboue believes there were clearly issues between a high-profile player and manager and that a parting of ways is best for all concerned.

He added: "Sometimes it's not all about the money.

"When your relationship as a player is not good with the manager and it does not seem like it will improve, it is always better to move elsewhere.

"Yaya is a great player and leader and I think he still has some years to continue playing at the highest level.

"He is the kind of player who can turn things round and he always wants to win."

NAIJ.com previously reported that Manchester City gaffer Pep Guardiola confirmed that Ivory Coast football star Yaya Toure will leave the club at the end of the ongoing Premier League season.

The former Barcelona handler stated clearly that the 34-year-old is not part of his plans for the defence of Manchester City Premier League title and also in the Champions League.

This season in the Premier League, Yaya Toure did not enjoy active playing time under manager Pep Guardiola.
