- The MP for Adaklu is calling for a committee on inquiry to investigate the death of former vice president Amissah Arthur
- The legislator argues that Amissah Arthur's death is full of suspicions
- Amissah Arthur is believed to have been conveyed to the 37 Military Hospital at the bucket of a pick-up
Member of Parliament for the Adaklu constituency, Kwame Agbodza, has made a case for a committee of inquiry to be established to investigate the death of the former vice president, Amissah Arthur.
Kwame Agbodza says the circumstances leading to the death of the former vice president is highly suspicious especially when he could have been resuscitated to life very easily.
Yen.com.gh had earlier reported how the Okyenhene had recounted the way the late Amissah Arthur was thrown into the bucket of a pickup truck at the Air Force gym mainly because of the non-availability of an ambulance.
In fact, the Okyenhene's account further details how himself and other friends of whom he was gyming with placed pressure on his failing heart.
This account by the Okyenhene saw a former presidential staffer, Sam George, criticise the chief for such exaggerated and "colourful account" of the vice president's death.
Amidst all these speculations and narrations, the MP says a special committee for this development will go a long way to deal with the controversies once and for all.
“Let’s have an inquiry. If you invite people to your house and one of them is seriously injured, the police can question you to just update them on what happened at the location, so that they can find out whether it is a normal accident or someone attempted hurting the person and when we have a vice president, as we are told, going into that kind of problem at a military installation like that, I think it is important to get better information than just tell us that he collapsed while training and we threw him at the back of a pickup and took him to the hospital,” he added.
Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur was the former vice president of Ghana under the erstwhile Mahama administration. Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur was born on 29 April 1951.
He is a Ghanaian economist, academic and politician who was the sixth Vice-President of Ghana, in office from 6 August 2012 until 7 January 2017, under President John Dramani Mahama. He was sworn in as Vice-President on 6 August 2012, following vetting by the Parliament of Ghana.
He was nominated by President John Dramani Mahama to be the vice-president a week after Mahama himself was sworn in. This followed the sudden death of John Atta Mills on 24 July 2012.
