Students of the Nungua Senior High School are in shock and a state of panic after 20 of their colleagues collapsed on Tuesday, July 3.
These students, after they recovered at the LEKMA Hospital in Accra, said they have been seeing ghosts and some mysterious creatures at school.
According to a physician specialist at the hospital, Dr. Joseph Oliver Commey, most of these students were suffering from hysteria.
“They rushed to the emergency room with some behaving abnormally. But we found out that most of them were suffering from hysteria. They said they had seen things, some seeing ghosts, some seeing other students who are dead,” he revealed.
Speaking in an interview with Citi FM, the doctor revealed that the students are "currently very stable and they waiting to see the clinical psychologist."
This is the first time such news is coming from the Nungua SHS. In the meantime, students on campus have been advised to stay calm as a special counseling session is set to begin for all students.
Hysteria is a term that applies to people who are being a little overly emotional, so it may surprise you to learn that it was once a common medical diagnosis.
In layman's terms, hysteria is often used to describe behavior that seems excessive and out of control.
When someone responds in a way that seems disproportionately emotional for the situation, they are often described as hysterical.
