The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Tamale, Iddrisu Musah Superior, has launched an attack on young Northern artiste, Mujahid Ahmed Bello, better known as Fancy Gadam.
According to the Tamale mayor, Fancy Gadam’s music talent is nothing but a waste and danger to the peace and stability of the people of the Northern Region.
The mayor who seems to have been angered by the conduct of the young musician has vowed to ban all musical concerts at the Tamale Sports Stadium after some fans of the artiste were involved in a deadly accident.
Musah Superior’s outburst comes after some fans of Fancy Gadam were killed in an accident on Thursday June 29, ahead the artiste's concert scheduled for the Tamale Sports Stadium.
The accident which occurred in Tamale, claimed the lives of 8 fans of the musician, with about 20 others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
Media reports state that a convoy of Fancy Gadam including motorbikes, with hundreds of his fans collided with a truck and other vehicles on their way to welcome Patoranking, a Nigerian artiste at the Tamale airport on Thursday.
This was said to have resulted to the death of 8 of his, and 2 other workers of Zylofon Media who had traveled to Tamale to support the concert.
However, the Tamale mayor expressing his frustrations about the ‘indiscipline’ nature of Fancy Gadam and his teaming fans accused the artiste of promoting lawlessness within the Tamale Metropolis all in the name of music.
He also accused the young artiste of 'sacrificing' the lives of his fans in promoting his music career in Tamale.
“Fancy Gadam is an irresponsible talent. We are not going to allow one single individual to take Tamale to ransom. His talent is a danger to the people of Tamale. Do you want to use the blood of the people to make money? We will not allow it!” the angry Mayor said.
Musah Superior also added that “Top musicians we are having in Accra anytime they’re having concert don’t do this. Why will Fancy Gadam do this? Such irresponsible lawless young man full of talent but his talent is a waste and a danger to Tamale. We are not going to allow that to continue”.
Meanwhile, some angry fans and management of the Tamale-based artiste are calling on the mayor to retract and apologize for accusing the artiste of engaging in ‘blood sacrifice’.
