Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Hitz FM, Hannah Marfo said her music career has not really paid her enough money as many may believe.
She explained that she saw her music as service to God so did not really concentrate on making money.
According to her, she occasionally receives money from the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), but that has not been enough to cater for her daughter’s hospital expenses.
She believes the introduction of pen drives and the internet has played a role in killing the industry, which has in turn impoverished musicians.
The 'Akristofoo dooso' hit maker also opened up on her struggles in life, saying she was once combining petty trading and her music.
She disclosed that she used to sell oranges, rice and eggs in a bid to cater for herself.
Hannah Marfo pleaded with the general public to help her pay for the GHc43,000 which is required for her daughter’s surgery.
