List of fastest players at the World Cup after 4 games topped by Cristiano Ronaldo

- Cristiano Ronaldo tops the list of 20 fastest players at World Cup 2018

- Amazingly, Kylian Mbappe is not included in the list compiled after 4 games.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup is quickly coming to an end. With the quarterfinals stage underway today, there are only eight games left.

However in line with tradition of technical knowledge, FIFA has announced the players who have hit the highest speeds at the tournament so far.

The calculation of this phenomenon is supposed to give an idea of fast players sprint on the pitch.

Unsurprisingly at number one is a familiar name: Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese at 33, seems to be getting faster and fitter.

Ronaldo clocked a top speed of 34 km/h against Spain in Portugal’s opening group game.

He is joined at the top by Croatia's Ante Rebic. The striker memorably punished Willy Caballero’s farcical error in Croatia’s group stage game with Argentina.

England is well represented in the top 20, with Kyle Walker, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard all featuring.

Interestingly, Kylian Mbappé does not make the list of the 20 fastest runners. His top speed of 32.4 km/h is unfortunatel outside of the speed needed to break the top 20.
