It has emerged that young persons in the Central Region are bleaching their lips with chemicals dangerous to their health.
Reports from 3FM in Accra, show that these young persons who reside in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) Municipality are mixing bleaching cream, toothpaste and 'akpeteshie' to change the colour of their lips.
So far, the decision by the youth to use this mixture is unclear but YEN.com.gh has gathered that it is to become handsome and beautiful by achieving "reddish" and "pink" lips.
In fact, there are other reports that desperate young men and women at KEEA also go the extra mile to achieve fast results by actually brushing their delicate lips with the chemical.
Meanwhile, head of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in the Central Region, Mr Odai Tettey, said the dangerous trend has come to their attention and have mounted surveillance to track those selling the unregistered products to bring them to book.
