Actress Yvonne Okyere-Whalley, has welcomed her first baby with her husband.
The actress has been off the cameras in recent months due to her decision to undertake a course in law.
The 2015 Golden Movie Awards winner is married to Allan Whalley, and the couple have been living in the United Kingdom (UK) for the past seven months.
They have, however, been blessed with their first child – a baby girl – who was delivered earlier in January.
The baby girl has since been named Scarlett Akua Senkyirene Whalley.
Yvonne expressed her excitement about the arrival of the baby in an Instagram post, insisting it has not been an easy journey.
She wrote: “My story is long and the journey has been tedious but through it all He never abandoned me. She defied the odds, proved doctors wrong and, of course, stole many hearts along the way. She’s absolutely worth every pain! Beautiful people say hello to Scarlett Akua Senkyirene Whalley.”
She now joins the list of other celebrities like Nadia Buari and quite recently, Yvonne Nelson, who kept their pregnancy a secret until after delivery.
Meanwhile, the actress also paid tribute to the healthcare system in the UK for helping her have a successful delivery.
“Happy anniversary to our amazing NHS – thank you for saving my life, my Daughter’s life, my father’s life…in fact, the whole of my family. We are incredibly lucky to have you. Many thanks to all the fantastic doctors, nurses, admin, drivers, healthcare assistants and all others who make the NHS what it is. We couldn’t thank you enough – God bless you all. It is my prayer that my other beloved country Ghana can learn from you and save its citizens as you do. Happy Anniversary!” she wrote in one of her posts.
Yvonne further commended her husband for being a doting father, adding that he has made motherhood less challenging for her.
