- Newly-elected chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay, has stated that he is not a friend to former chairman, Paul Afoko
- According to him, Afoko rarely shows up for party events
- He added that former General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, makes an effort to participate in party programmes
The newly-elected Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Frederick Worsemau Blay, has revealed that he has a strained relationship with his predecessor, Paul Awentami Afoko.
According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, he stated that the only former executive he regularly communicates with is the former General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyapong.
He went ahead to say that unlike Agyapong who sometimes shows up for events, Afoko has completely cut himself off such activities.
He further stated that in the run-up to the 2016 elections, Afoko allegedly expressed uncertainty about the chances of the NPP with respect to the elections.
The NPP suspended its 2nd Vice Chairman, Sammy Crabbe, alongside Mr. Agyapong in 2015, after they were accused of publicly rebelling against the party’s decision to indefinitely suspend its then National Chairman, Paul Afoko.
At the 26th National Delegates Conference of the NPP recently held in Koforidua, a former party chairman, Peter Mac Manu, said the party will welcome embattled former National Executives of the party should they decide to patronize any of the party’s events.
