- La Liga winners Barca set to land Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet this summer
- The defender has been impressive for his side during his first season at the club.
- He will sign a five year deal with the club once he passes medicals in the coming days
Spanish League champions Barcelona are on the verge of signing €35 million rated Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet this summer.
The Catalans released Argentina international Javier Mascherano earlier this year and they are hoping to sign the Frenchman as his replacement.
According to Goal, the 23-year-old is expected to sign a five year deal this week after passing medicals at the club.
However, the Camp Nou side were said to have paid the player's full €35 million release clause after failing to negotiate a lower fee for their target.
Lenglet attracted top European clubs during his debut season at Sevilla, following his arrival from Ligue 1 side Nancy in January 2017.
Premier League giants Manchester United are also interested in securing his signature, but the player chose to remain in Spain and sign for Barca.
Sevilla's efforts to stop Lenglet from leaving this summer held no water as he rejected a new contract proposal from the Andalusian side.
Lenglet becomes Barcelona's second major signing of the summer, after Arthur arrived from Gremio for €40 million on Monday.
YEN.com.gh previously reported that La Liga champions Barcelona are pressing on with a £26.5m summer move for Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet.
Reports from the Spanish media outlet claim the Frenchman is the number one target for Barca, with growing doubts over Yerry Mina and Thomas Vermaelen.
The duo both put on a disastrous display in last weekend's 5-4 defeat at Levante ending the Catalans hopes of finishing the season unbeaten.
