Sawla youth vow to burn down police station after cop was caught sleeping with another man’s wife

Some irate youth in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district in the Northern Region, have threatened to burn down the Sawla Police station.

The angry mob stormed the police station on Wednesday night, wielding sticks and cutlasses after a local executive of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), was arrested following a confrontation with an officer over a woman.

According to Adomonline.com report, the NPP Youth Organizer in the Sakara constituency, Adamu Sakara, was arrested for allegedly attacking a police officer at his private residence.

But further reports state that the NPP man confronted the police officer after having suspected that he was in an amorous relationship with his wife.

Sakara who gave his account noted that he caught the police officer whose name was given as Ocloo Labister, sleeping with his wife on Wednesday afternoon.

He also alleged that his wife who also works as a Community Police officer at Sawla police station has been secretly dating Ocloo for a very long time now.

“This is not the first time Ocloo has committed such a silly act. He last slept with someone’s wife at Kalba and also chasing the girlfriends and wives of others. We have beaten him and want him out of our town now,” another angry youth accused.

Meanwhile, the Sawla/Tuna district police commander, DSP Ofori Boateng, told Accra-based Adom FM that the officer who was attacked by the youth is receiving medical attention at the Hospital.

DSP Ofori Boateng, however described the attack as “a small skirmish” which did not escalate.

The District Commander added that calm has since been restored and the police have commenced investigations into the matter.
