As sales representative of Voltic Ghana Limited, Emmanuel Yaw Korang, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for stealing GHC89,592.00 belonging to the company.
YEN.com.gh understands that he was sentenced on 15 counts of stealing, but the sentences are to run concurrently.
The sentenced was passed by the Koforidua Circuit Court ‘A’.
Presenting the facts of the case, the Assistant State Attorney, Cyril Boateng Keteku revealed that financial infractions were detected by an official of the company in July 2017.
The official, Adaardare Atogra Oscar, who manages the Koforidua area, caused a preliminary audit to be conducted into the sales of the suspect.
The prosecutor explained that the audit which spanned from June to July 2017 revealed that there had been several instances of embezzlement resulting in a deficit of GHC89,592.00.
When queried, Korang was unable to provide satisfactory reasons and the case was therefore reported to the police.
He was subsequently charged with the offence and sentenced to a 5 years in prison.
