- Eight armed robbers have attacked passengers on a bus in the Ashanti region
- Weapons belonging to two policemen who were on board the bus were seized from them
- One of the policemen, Lance Corporal Daniel Tieku , was injured during the attack
A group of travelers encountered a moment of terror when they run into eight armed robbers on their way from Manso Kumpeses to Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region.
According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, the armed men overpowered two policemen Corporal Eric Nsiah and Lance Corporal Daniel Tieku of the Ashanti Regional Special Weapon And Tactics (SWAT) unit.
The weapons of the policemen, which were loaded with 30 rounds of ammunitions each, were seized from them.
The passengers were travelling on a Sprinter bus with registration number GC 644-15.
On reaching a section of the road between Manso Ayirebikrom and Manso Nkwanta they were attacked and robbed by 8 masked armed men dressed in imitated military uniforms, all wielding AK 47 riffles, who had ambushed them.
Lance Corporal Daniel Tieku sustained a serious gunshot wound in the process of trying to launch a resistance.
The police have however revealed that the victims have been rushed to the St Martin’s Hospital at Agroyesum and are responding to treatment.
A total of 27 empty AK 47 cartridge shells which were found at the scene, have been handed over to the police.
