- Griezmann does not seem too happy with the criticisms of Belgian players
- Courtois and Griezmann were once teammates at Atletico Madrid
After France had beaten Belgium via a Samuel Umtiti header, a number of Belgian players criticised France's approach to the game. Now, France forward Antoine Griezmann is responding.
Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard and Thomas Meunier all mentioned their displeasure with France's tactics. However, Griezmann would not let the attack go unaddressed.
Ahead of the final of World Cup 2018, the Atletico Madrid forward was asked at the pre-match press conference on what he had to say about the criticisms.
As cited here, Griezmann said:
This was certainly an acid-tongued response from Griezmann. It seems the 27 year-old wanted to voice out the anger that the Belgian bashing had caused them.
It is unclear if this would fracture the relationship between Griezmann and Courtois. The two know each other from when the Belgian goalkeeper was at Atletico Madrid.
Belgium play in the third place match on Saturday against England. France face off against Croatia in the final.
