WAEC releases results of 2018 WASSCE

- The 2018 WASSCE results have been released

- Over 20,000 candidates had their results withheld

- Performance of candidates regarding the Core Mathematics paper was awful

Provisional results for the 2018 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has been released with the results of 26,434 candidates withheld due to examination malpractices.

"The withheld results of candidates will be canceled if found culpable or released otherwise," WAEC revealed.

In all, over 90,000 candidates failed their Core Mathematics paper while the performance at A1-C6 in Social Studies showed a marked improvement over that of 2017 (52.25% to 73.27%).

All candidates have been advised to contact their heads of school for their results. For those who may want to check it up online, they must visit WAEC's online website to access the results.

In 2017, the general performance of all 289,210 candidates was good as compared to the previous year of 2016.

In the area of Core Mathematics, exactly 122,450 candidates scored between AI and C6 with over 56,000 failing drastically.

The situation regarding Integrated Science was worrying as close to over 76,000 candidates also failed with a terrible F9.
