The 15-year-old became an internet sensation when his innovation – an electrically powered standing fan made of wood – went viral on social media.

Pictures of his works were originally posted on social media by his teacher, Max Owusu, and the post has since been shared over 2900 times, creating huge buzz around the prodigy.

In a Facebook post, Mr. Owusu shared some pictures of young Thomas holding his specially invented fan, describing his student as a “genius.”

Beneath the photo, he wrote: “See this young but creative electrical engineer at my school who designed a wooden stand fan that can be operated electronically. I believe in a future that is realized today not tomorrow.

Since the news of Thomas’ invention went viral, many Ghanaians have commented him for his innovation.

Meanwhile, others have also called on government to support the young innovator to reach greater heights since it’s obvious he has the talent.

Speaking to Accra-based Citi FM, his teacher said they are currently looking for funding and sponsorship to help Thomas showcase his talent to the world.

Thomas has already made two electrically powered wooden fans, which he built in the space of just two days.

The 15-year-old is also planning on making other wooden fans that run solely on batteries, to add to his already existing innovation.
