The driver of a Metro Mass Transit bus managed to save his life and that of his passengers from the hands of armed robbers on the Akyem-Asafo Amaase road in the Eastern Region.
The driver, Andrews Frimpong, speedily crashed through a barricade put up by the armed robbers on the stretch of road in spite of the risks involved.
Although he suffered a tearing of the fan belt, Andrews was still able to save most passengers from the gun-wielding robbers aside three others who, out of fear, decided to stay in the bus.

The bus conductor who narrated the incident to Adom FM praised Andrews for such a brave move.
According to him, reports of the attempted robbery have been forwarded to the Tafo police station for further investigations.
Highway robbery is a phenomenon in Ghana today which has made traveling by road a scary experience.
The robbers often use bad weather and the poor telephone network to attack innocent travelers and rid them of their belongings.
