- There has been an injunction petition against the appointment of a new EC boss
- A concerned citizen, Fafali Nyonator, who earlier sued the attorney general, is now begging the Supreme Court over a replacement for Charlotte Osei
- Charlotte Osei was sacked by the president on the basis of misbehaviour and incompetence
A concerned citizen, Fafali Nyonator, has petitioned the Supreme Court to stop Nana Addo from appointing a new electoral commissioner.
Fafali Nyonator, who had earlier prayed the court to reverse the sacking of Charlotte Osei, has now filed this new injunction to fast-track the situation.
So far, the presidency has not been ordered to suspend this move of naming a new electoral commissioner. In fact, the presidency has named four persons who could be considered for the position of electoral commissioner.
YEN.com.gh had earlier reported on how a criminal law professor, Professor Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu as the possible replacement for Charlotte Osei.
The professor could best be remembered as a member of the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) which heard victims of human rights abuses during military juntas tell harrowing stories as Ghanaians dealt with a troubled past.
As juicy as the offer of EC chair sounds, the criminal law professor comes at a time when the electoral commission is currently in a troubled state.
The dismissal of Charlotte Osei and her two deputies sparked outrage especially among the opposition NDC which believes government is conspiring to rig future elections.
In the midst of all these controversies, Charlotte Osei issued a statement thanking friends and supporters for their prayers and support through these times.
After narrating the experience of surviving death threats and curses, Charlotte Osei believed her deeds as the EC boss - as seen in the 2016 elections - will be left for posterity to judge.

So far, the removal of Charlotte Osei has sent shock waves to some political critics of government like the NDC which believes the action is an attempt by the government to sabotage future elections in their favour. The presidency justified the move to remove Charlotte Osei on the grounds of "incompetence and misbehavior".
