The president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated 38 Municipal and District Chief Executives.
The 38 nominees are to be in charge of newly created Municipal and District Assemblies.
The announcement was made in a press release dated July 18, 2018 and signed by the Minister of Local Government and Ruraldevelopment, Hajia Halima Mahama.
"His Excellency the President in accordance with Accordibg to the new in accordance with article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, Act 936, has nominated Municipsl/District Chief Executives for the newly created Municipal and District Assemblies.
“In view of the above, the respective Regional Ministers are kindly requested to liaise with the Regional Electoral Commission to conduct the confirmation process of the nominated Chief Executives in their Regions,” the release sighted by YEN.com.gh read.
Of the 38 nominees, 13 are for the Ashanti Region while Greater Accra has 10 nominations.
The remaining 15 nominees represent other regions including Eastern, Western, Brong Ahafo among others.
The nominees must will have to be approved by two-thirds of their respective assemblies before they can take office.
