YEN.com.gh has sighted a video in which former president of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings, was seen and heard singing a birthday song in a local language for former boxing World champion, Azumah Nelson.
The video which appears to have been recorded in the residence of the former president saw the former boxer cut his birthday cake amidst a joyous chorus of the famous ‘Happy Birthday’ song.
The boxing living legend who has been nicknamed ‘Professor’ due to his prowess in the boxing ring was assisted by the former president and another man to cut his cake.
After the English version of the birthday song was sung for the celebrant, Former President Rawlings opted to sing an Ewe version of the birthday song just to show off his ‘chorister’ voice.
Azumah Nelson and Rawlings were seen wearing white clothes; an indication that they were in a celebratory mood.
It has been noted that Jerry John Rawlings was very supportive of Azumah Nelson’s career. According to the reports, the former president used to sweep the room of the 3-time boxing champion in their hay days.
Former President’s Rawlings attempt to sing his own local rendition of the birthday song was met with laughter from some of the people who were gathered in the room.

Not too long ago, the former president was spotted in a picture together with the former British High Commissioner, Jon Benjamin.
Azumah Nelson is touted as the greatest boxer to come from Africa having won many international bouts against some of the greatest boxers at the time.
He is rated as the 17th greatest pound for pound boxer of all time and was able to make Ghana proud with his impressive wins and smooth victory speeches at the end of every bout.
