The interior minister, Ambrose Dery has described the assault of a nursing mother by a police officer at Kumasi as "wicked and barbaric".
Reacting to this development, the minister revealed the IGP has been ordered to ensure the policeman is arrested.
So far, YEN.com.gh can report that the police officer has been arrested at Kumasi and on his way to Accra to be processed for court.
It all happened when the nursing mother got into the hall of the micro finance company to cash out her funds of 250 cedis. She was asked to return and that the bank had closed but she refused. There was an attempt to get her out which caused the attack. The bank attracts more customers.
There is the suspicion of the bank having issues hence panic withdrawals. She was there earlier and seems she was having issues getting her money of 250 cedis.
Meanwhile, management of Midland Savings and Loans has condemned the act stating it has issued a statement to the IGP reporting the matter and also calling for a thorough investigation.
"The management of Midland Savings and Loans condemns in no uncertain terms the act of brutality meted out to our customer. We wish to apologize for the uncivilized act. We have reported the issue to the police," he revealed.
