Woman at the centre of police beating speaks

Details are still coming in with regards to video that surfaced earlier on Friday on social media. It showed woman being beaten at a place identified as a branch of Midlands Savings and Loans. The woman, a nursing mother, has since spoken to Accra-based Peace FM.

In an interview with the station some hours ago, she narrated the incident that apparently occurred on Thursday.

She is known as Patience, a mother of three and the baby in the video is only 2 months and 3 weeks old.

She said she had been going to the bank for a week to withdraw her money of about GHc 270. However, the bank kept telling her they are experiencing network challenges.

But since she was in dire need of money, she decided to stay on till she was paid her money, only to be assaulted by the police officer.

The officer, Frederick Amanor has since been arrested.
