Many Ghanaians, both home and abroad, were thrown into a state of shock when the sad news of the untimely demise of former Vice President of Ghana, Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur was announced last month.
Some members of the general public, especially members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), were blown away when rumors first started on various social media platforms.
However, it later turned out to be true after doctors at the 37 Military hospital confirmed the heart-wrenching news.
The Vice President who was not sick reportedly collapsed during a routine workout session at the Airforce Gym on June 29, and was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital where he was later pronounced died.
The final funeral and burial proceedings, which begun today, is being held at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC),, where his remains have been laid in state for public viewing.
A number of dignitaries both home and abroad have arrived to bid their final farewell to the late Ghanaian leader.
Some top Ghanaian personalities across the political divide are also playing various roles to pay their last respect to the late Vice President as he embarks his final journey back home.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has announced the temporary closure of some roads in the capital today and tomorrow.
Some of the affected roads include, the Osu Cemetery Traffic Light, on the Lokko Street, Castle Road, from AU circle to Osu Cemetery Traffic Light.
A statement from the Police Service said, “unmarked vehicles would not be permitted to park or drive through these roads.”
The late Amissah-Arthur will be laid to final rest on tomorrow, Friday 27, at the Military Cemetery in Accra.
